The “Commons” offers wheel-chair accessible trails that wind along the perimeter and intersect the organic help-yourself vegetable gardens. These gardens allow the Women for Healthy Rural Living to significantly expand its hugely successful Incredible Edible Milbridge project. We have doubled our annual produce harvest. A future community orchard will enhance the Incredible Edible offerings with the addition of apples, pears and berries.
Milbridge Commons Wellness Park plan includes a play area for children, which will be the first public play space for families in our town. It will provide an amphitheater for community performances as well as natural areas for quiet reflection, bird watching, picnicking, and enjoyment of the pristine views of the bay. Installation is planned for 2020.
The property accommodate field trips and outdoor classroom experiences for local schools, expanding our existing Incredible Edible program at the Milbridge Elementary School.
This innovative park is available in all seasons and to all ages. Milbridge Commons is place to work, learn, and harvest, but also a place for recreation, quiet contemplation and healing.
Future phases include:
- Children’s Playground (2020)
